With the coronavirus outbreak, gig companies are a public health risk

An op-ed by Aquent CEO John Chuang.

With 10 million gig workers and growing, Chuang writes that the number of people that have no worker protections is at a historic high. Gig companies “have upended labor norms,” and workers denied sick pay and health insurance can find it impossible to do the responsible social distancing that protects us all. Chuang urges consumers to be “conscious of how these services treat their workers” and delete the gig app if necessary.
